Hey all, first time renting from Budget and Avis (or trying to).
Got a company rate on top, total for the three day rental was supposed to be about $140. When at the insurance page, there is a LDW insurance that is checked off, and marked "included". Literally cannot remove it. The total, after not making any changes to this insurance, remains $140. Reservation is finalized, and it says $140.
As soon as we try to complete the pre-check and pay before the arrival, there's suddenly at $90 charge that amounts to the insurance. We cannot remove it manually, which is frustrating. On the phone with a rep, they confirm that this is the insurance, and offer to remove it. We just want to know why this was marked as included, with no indication of its actual rate ($30/day), and no indication of its additional charge in our booking total, which we see like 5x before we complete the precheck. Is the protocol to jump us with these fees if we had checked in, in-person? Rep hangs up!
Anyone experience this? Is there any car company that won't hide this sum from you?
