How do you get to a place of self-acceptance?

I am bi-gender. This week, my therapist helped me realize that the reason I get anxious around doing anything important to my female identity (dressing en femme, practicing makeup, etc) is that I have not come to a place of self-acceptance yet. I still have some shame and guilt around my transgender identity.

How do I get past guilt and shame and get to a place of self-acceptance?
