Solutions to trenders?
Post Body

We make a lot of posts about afab female presenting "trans" people, especially those who take resources from trans men. It's so frustrating to see how common it is, but I'm not sure what would be a good solution in reality. I've been thinking about it a lot, though.

If a gender dysphoria diagnosis was required in all cases, they'd just lie. If more extensive therapy was required it may deter some of the trenders, but they'd still just lie and many would get through. I'm not confident that a lot of therapists would see through them.

If a therapy and diagnosis requirement was stringent enough to block most trenders, it could be a pretty big barrier for some real transsexuals in practice. Waiting months to even get a first session, the cost, etc. How long would you need to see someone? What if you get a shitty therapist who thinks that if you have any other issue (depression, anxiety, autism, etc) it means you're likely not actually trans? Or they just don't believe in trans people generally? Even if you were willing to spend more time and money on a different therapist, would that be looked at as a version of doctor shopping? Would your medical record always show that a professional already said you're not trans? There are just so many issues that are more likely to hurt transsexuals than actually stop this stupid fad.

This is especially for the trenders who are (supposedly) on T but don't want surgery.

Honestly, I don't even believe that half of these tiktokers actually take T anyway. They want the clout and to feel special, different, not like other girls, etc. They don't want the majority of the effects of T. They're all liars: to doctors, to their viewers, to the people around them in real life, and to themselves. Or at least one or more of those. Lying their way through a more "rigorous" process to get T and/or surgery would just "validate" them because they could say "See! I went through this whole process so I must really be trans!" And the ones that aren't even on T could say they are and pretend they went through the trouble.

The only solution I can think of is kind of a pipe dream, though I still would like to pursue making it happen:

Separate these people into a different category than trans in the first place. The ones who are GNC are still cis, period. Give GNC people their own spaces to celebrate being "not like other girls" or whatever, fine. There would have to be a space where they can still feel special and shit, or else none of them will ever accept the recategorization. We need to officially revert the definition of trans to a transmedicalist one, as it was always meant to be, making it clear that these people obviously don't fit the definition. If these things were to happen, then not only would afab female-presenting people with no desire to medically transition be denied T and surgery, it would make their delusion obvious to a lot of people since they're also not even GNC. If they lied about being on T, people would be like "But why? You're not trans, and you're afab and you want to look like a girl so you're not GNC either. That doesn't make sense." There will always be people on the fringes who reject these definitions, but the majority of society would separate them from us. Or at least I fucking hope so.
