Tucute ideology in an unsuspecting book

Post Body

I recently bought a book that was supposed to be a college aged love story between two men. It was under the ā€œno coming out plotā€ category which was exactly what I was looking for. It has cheesy writing and pretty stereotypical genZ and millennial gay slang in it but I excused it for the fun of it. What I wasnā€™t expecting was seeing non-binary and tucute ideology put in the book when there was no mention of the main character coming out as non-binary even though he does. The author is a cis man so you can already tell that the modern gender identity politics put in the book isnā€™t good. Itā€™s the whole gender is a construct and there are no rules to pronouns BS that the characters were talking about that got me writing this post. The description of the story made it out to be focused on body image involving weight and eating disorders, love story tropes, and first love. Not this genderqueer crap that was put in for no good reason.

I was looking forward to this book because I just wanted a nice and charming mlm non high school story but Iā€™m disappointed now and irritated that I spent my money on this. Iā€™m going to finish it because I donā€™t want my money completely wasted and hopefully it gets better but I doubt it.
