Are there any credible sources of studies done with how the brain reacts to different hormones? I find it interesting since obviously there is a reaction to it but it depends on the person’s sex and gender identity. Cis women who go on estrogen don’t seem to experience the same things as when a cis man does. A cis man going on estrogen seems to cause some psychological negative effects outside the ones that everyone experiences if they were to go on it. But when a trans woman goes on it, they experience more benefits psychologically. Same but in reverse for cis women taking testosterone vs trans men.
There must be a part of the brain that reacts to hormones and depending how that’s formed, it could be a big reason why we experience sex and body dysphoria.
I’ve heard from other transsexuals that taking their desired hormones give them a sense of peace and comfort but when detrans people took it they experienced the opposite. I also experience this sense of calm after I do my testosterone.
There is a theory on the brain being gendered and that trans people have the opposite brain from their body’s sex but it’s been debunked and denounced a couple times. There has to be something in the brain or function of it in order for these different experiences to happen though. I obviously don’t have a set idea or hypothesis but I think the research in dysphoria is missing something and that’s why we aren’t able to figure out what exactly causes this.
