I used to know one girl in my high school who came out as non-binary in 9th grade. This was during my social transition era and didn’t know better about nonbinary.
Skip to 12th grade and now I’m on testosterone and I pass completely fine. The friends transition was doing a half buzz cut and pixie cut. They’re dating a boy who is in my advisory class. I talked to him sometimes and the topic of trans came up. He said it was all a choice and I was put back. I couldn’t say anything back because the bell rang and I had to go to class. Later I told the friend and they said they’re not bothered by it.
It confused me until now. I realized that she was ok with him saying that because it WAS a choice for her. So of course she sees nothing wrong. During that same year 2 other girls, one was my friend since we were 3, also came out as non-binary and all they did was dye their hair horribly. All this time I was pushing through severe dysphoria that landed me in the psych ward, bullying, death threats, seeing propaganda of trans people everywhere online, and everything else going on in life. And these MF’s were just changing their hair and having a blast with their new choice of pronouns. FUCK THAT!!!
