Hi all,
I'm wondering if Reel Magic prosthetic owners with darker skin tones would be willing to submit pics of their prosthetics vs the Skin Tone # they selected, so that future buyers can get a more accurate idea of what they're purchasing.
The new, painted samples option is ideal of course, but not everyone opts for it and in some cases (resales, defects, etc.) it's not available.
I think a comparison thread would be a great resource, as these prosthetics are extremely expensive. It also seems like color matching is especially difficult for anyone who isn't white.
For example, I'm a lighter-skinned Black person, and M15 is a good match for my overall tone, but M16 is the best match for my natal genitalia. M 17 is a bit dark for me, but not implausibly so. You would absolutely not guess this from the online chart, which is all that's available to folks purchasing discounted or second-hand models.

From these pics, you can see that despite differences in lighting, etc. the IRL prosthetics are much different than they appear in the chart. This is why samples are absolutely mandatory if you're buying an RM "from scratch." That said, this may not be an option for everyone, and the point remains that there are comparatively fewer dark tones on offer, which is a shame. Darker-skinned folks have just as much variation as lighter-skinned folks, and that needs to be reflected in companies like these. I want to see different depths of colors, (light, medium, and dark browns) as well as a variety of undertones (red, blue, olive, etc.) in ALL of those shades.
Until then, though....maybe informing each other is the best we can do.
