Today I'm 20 days post-OP PIV surgery with Dr. Schechter here in Chicago. Yesterday was a tough day, but I managed to dilate three times. Being 20 days post-OP, I guess I'm expecting things to look better, but they look the same, and this weekend, I've had more discomfort and a little more pain than last week, and I'm not sure if that's normal for things to look or feel worse before they get better. Mornings are the hardest part because that's when I wake up with more pain and discomfort. I start my medication routine when I wake up, and my day starts to be a lot easier. I'm still very swollen; it's not a cute look. I have my second appointment with the physical therapist on Tuesday, and that gives me some comfort because it's my opportunity to make sure I'm doing well. For those who have gone through this process, how were your first 20–30 days after surgery?
