Out of ideas?

I’ve been thinking about this most recent update and I was thinking that perhaps the dev team are out of ideas for the game? My reasoning behind this is the level increase for card to level 9.
I think the dev team wanted a way to keep players playing the game and just added an unnecessary grind rather than putting anything substantial. Perhaps if they increased the card rewards or decreased the amount required to get that top level I’d think differently.
What are your thoughts on the new increase?
