It's 2200. The world has gone to shit. You are a survivor in what remains of the world, trying to live your life in a post-apocalyptic hellscape. But what happened to our civilization? Well, a few things.
The Virus
The second pandemic was nothing like the first.
VARNIS (Virus Affection Reproductive, Neurological, and Immune Systems) was first identified in the mid-2020s, far more infections and severe than anything the world had ever seen. The disease, though 100% fatal, acts much like the flu in its early stages, but as the illness progresses, the patient falls into a coma. They then experience a number of bodily changes:
Sexual organs, such as the penis, breasts, and buttocks, grow at a high rate
Skin begins to turn a magenta colour
The body begins to secrete large volumes of a thick, slimy fluid, referred to as VARNIS-Hemorrhage, or simply Varnish. Varnish is a strong infectious agent and is extremely toxic.
Incredibly, the patient will, in 95% of cases, wake up from the coma. However, their conscious mind appears to be gone. They will then be hellbent on the desire to infect others, usually by exposing them to Varnish.
VARNIS spread around the world. It seemed to not only affect humans, but also other living things, mutating living organisms into producers of Varnish. VARNIS was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in 2025.
Many years on, the world is littered with VARNIS victims roaming the countryside. For those who remain, infection is still an everyday threat- not just from the disease, but also from mutated parasites that seem to be just as motivated as humans to spread Varnish wherever they go.
The War
Most wars in history had flashy, dramatic names, but not this one. Most people just call it "The War". It's unsure what kicked it off, but amidst the chaos of the pandemic, the breakdown of diplomacy, and increasing political polarization, it's not hard to understand that the major powers of the world had one last go at each other.
In 2029, China, Russia, and NATO began to enter three-way hostilities in smaller, localized conflicts, before they began to impact trade. Skirmishes then broke out directly between the three, and horrifying assets of modern warfare were enacted upon the world: chemical, biological (including weaponization of VARNIS), and eventually, nuclear. The war only lasted a matter of months before civilization began to collapse.
Some people took refuge in their own shelters, keeping them safe both from the nukes and the virus. However, it wasn't enough to save all of society. Governments crumbled, and many of those who were not killed were subjected to horrible mutilation and mutation from weapons of mass destruction.
The Anarchy
There are no more countries. All the territory in the world is either uninhabitable, empty, or occupied by tribes and small settlements. Warlords and slavers roam the land, armed with weapons and tech left over from The War. Furthermore, other factions formed with different agendas; sometimes even charitable ones. But no group in the world is more unique than The Worthy.
The Worthy are a militarized group who seek to preserve humanity; not by wiping out VARNIS and the warlords, but merely by sheltering those who are uninfected and unmutated. Their ideology is almost religious, and they will stop at nothing to root out the pure humans and defend them at all costs. They have a number of settlements around the world, linked together by land, air, sea, and in some cases, by radio. Some say their cause is noble, others describe The Worthy as tyrants.
Hiya! This was quite the wall of text, but essentially I'm interested in telling a story set in this mash-up of post apocalyptic settings. Your character will brave the remains of the world, both in lewd and non-lewd ways! That said, this is going to be story heavy. I don't care much about response length, but I do care about interest in storytelling and worldbuilding.
Please reply with a character concept (refs are appreciated!), your limits, and one thing you like about the prompt, just so I know that you read it. And yes, Discord is required! Sorry.
Hope to hear from you! DM ME, I CANNOT SEE CHAT!
