Hey, let's hope I find it within myself to do an update each week. Of course that may end up being quite boring when there are no changes occurring. But for now...
I started on 50 mg spironolactone and 2 mg estradiol. Tomorrow I double my spiro to 100 mg.
What I've noticed most significantly: hot flashes! Seems to be most significant right after taking the estradiol, which I suppose makes sense. I actually haven't heard anyone having this experience. I know of the being colder effect, but not this. Anyway, it comes and goes, hot and sweaty. On the positive side it's an indication that something is taking place.
Another thing is the thirst. The spiro is a diuretic, so that wouldn't seem unusual, except that I don't seem to be peeing that much more. Maybe slightly, but the thirst is constant. Probably a good thing for me anyway since I don't drink enough.
One other thing I BELIEVE has happened is my sweat doesn't stink. I spent the whole day two days ago sweating at my family's house and when I got home and undressed, no armpit stink at all! I'm pretty sure I know how I would smell normally and it just did not happen . I'm totally cool with that!
There was also a few days there where I thought I felt happier, but that's no sure thing. At least not due to hormones. Other than perhaps the reality of being on them or just coincidence. Also I'm on cymbalta and that was recently increased so that's the more likely culprit.
If anyone else is in and around my stage of transition and would like to chat, please send me a message. It's a rough road and it hasn't really hit me yet. I know it will get worse, but I don't understand how much. I don't suppose you ever can until you experience it.
Cheers to experiential living!
Edit: I totally forgot to mention that libido has gone down a bit and orgasms harder to come by!
