I’m interviewing tomorrow over Zoom for a Telecom Electronic Technician II position with BNSF. I’ve worked 7 years as a technician for a big telecom company I like to refer to as the death-star.
I’m wondering if anyone has any insight on how often the technical side of the railroad goes through layoffs or furloughs? (I know about the work/life balance complaints I see a lot on these Reddit posts, because I already live that now where I work.)
I see the railroad as a much better long-term career opportunity than where I work now, plus it’ll put me in a much better spot financially. I’m just concerned that I might get the job just to get through training and end up unemployed within 6 months.
