While I think Trading View has probably the best charts, here's a list of things that made me decide not to sign up after trying out Pro subscription for a month. Hopefully these features will be added as time goes by, but lack of the features currently make it unsuitable for day trading.
- No tick based data.
- No L2 display.
- No time of sales display.
- No ability to paper trade with bar-replay. There's no point in having bar replay if you can't go back and trade using historical data to practice.
- Scanning is inferior compared to Trade Ideas.
- Company key stats not detailed enough and not customizable. Among missing things are short float, relative volume, insider ownership, institutional ownership, etc..
- News lacking compared to Trade Ideas or Benzinga Pro. I counted how many stories appear on a given day for a number of stocks and Finviz / Benzinga / Trade Ideas carry more news.
-- Insider trading details missing.
- Analyst upgrades/downgrades details missing.
- Back testing is unreliable, due to missing tick data flow.
As far as social platform and sharing of ideas goes, i don't see the point in it. That doesn't offer anyone an edge.... only maybe if you take a contrarian view of the strategies published.
For swing trading Trading View is probably great.
I wish Trading View charts were incorporated into DAS TRADER and TRADE IDEAS. Then it would be perfect!
