How prepared (riding-wise) should you be before your first track day?
Post Body

Hi all,

I really want to do my first track day this year but I can't shake the feeling that I'm extremely unprepared and I want to know whether I'm just overthinking it or whether there are things that I should be working on before I go to the track.

I ride an R3 and I've been commuting to and from work every day during rush hour for about a year and a half so I have a decent handle on "normal" freeway/city/traffic riding as well as basic to intermediate slow speed manuevers. However, my body positioning leaves a LOT to be desired. I understand the concept, kind of, but I struggle to find the correct physical cues while actually in the turn. This obviously leads to me not being able to take corners as quickly because my butt is just perma planted in the seat. I'm mostly just worried that I'm going to end up being so slow that I'm an inconvenience, especially on a 300cc bike. Does anyone here have experience diving into a track day without a ton of this kind of skill beforehand? Thanks for any advice!

Where are you located? I never did a track day. I went straight into racing. It all works out. Find a buddy and just do it.
