I'm probably just as excited as some of you here for Deep Dip 2 to drop in a few days, however I've just read into the official donation page for the event and am quite discouraged. Here is the page for the event: https://matcherino.com/tournaments/111501
My biggest concern is over the separated servers, why do "invited streamer" get their own server? whilst all of the other players will be on a second server? Here's the full quote:
"The event will start at 8PM CET on Friday May 3rd. There will be 2 dedicated servers available, one for invited streamers and one for the public. They will be open before 8PM with a waiting map. When the map change happens at 8PM the event immediately starts and you can start your journey to the top!"
It hasn't taken me long to realize the amount that this would favor an "invited streamer" overall in winning the prize pool, that server will have a concentration of really really good players that are all able to learn from each other as they all progress. In the spirit of the game, this just feels a bit odd that everyone else is separated from a lot of the best players. No one on server 2 will reasonably have a chance to win in my opinion unless they watch these guys streams, play 24 hours a day, or potentially break other rules around watching content for further levels than they are at.
Will the player counts between these servers be drastically different too? How might this affect the overall lag and stability across the different player bases? If there happens to be any server downtime during the event, could this disproportionately affect one group of players, streamers or the public? But interestingly it would likely only affect one of those and not both. If the server becomes full then at that point I would be unable to join whilst an invited streamer has a slot on their server around the clock most likely.
I encourage anyone interested in the event to read the above link if you haven't done already and I look forward to seeing you guys on the server over the coming days :) Are my concerns baseless or is there some merit there? Genuinely I'm here for a discussion for and with anybody interested in the event or matter. The prize pool may be only about $3k right now but there is still time for it to increase too, this could be a significant amount of money for a player on server 2, and who doesn't love an underdog situation?
