How crazy is a 1:49 1/2 mile?
Post Body

I was the type in high school to give every last single sport day and workout my 110%. For me, that meant reaching the point where I was maxing out machines for sets of reps... I penned the name "beast mode" before Marshawn Lynch.

Personally? I started my senior year at 156lbs & 5'10. I graduated at 185, 4% muscle, and 6'

I had all my credits, I could have graduated at winter semester. But no one does that. So instead, I got the principal to grant permission to do 2 PE classes back to back to end the day, then drove home for a shower.

I was bicep curling 125-135 on the bench press bar (ez bars max at 110). Tricep rope pulling down the full 200lb stack. 1 arm rows (for lats back muscle) (110lbs sets of 10-15) leg pressing 500-550lb (different machiness different maxes) for sets of 50 at each beat of my Edm playlist, having fun...

I was freakishly strong for real, technically I never saw what the "fastest kid" did for his time. But we had some all staters for cross country, and I beat them...

By graduation, I hit a 1:49 at my very peak. I probably should have pursued track for real. Pretty dumb I didn't looking back.

Anyone remember the senior, "White Lightning"? | wonder what time he ran for a 800m? Anyone know?

My 1:49 time pre college training, would have placed me amongst the very elite.

For some reason, as strong as my other lifts were, and as fast as I was, I only ever benched 235, which is extremely weak in strength lift comparisons/lifts.

*As far as going from a 2:08 to 1:55, it's possible if yo' put the time in, and you were a unit like me. I was 4% muscle at 185ish. I'm 33 now and spend most of my aauit in the 210-225lb range.

Wanted to end with and not lead with, l'm part autistic.

There's a saying but it's looked down upon. I think I may have been of those examples. It's supposed to be a compliment though. I think it means we have the ability to push harder than the other 99% out there. To the point we can damage and hurt ourselves if we didn't train correctly.

I'll also add, that I wasn't flexible for Shit... I barely tippy finger touched the floor once in HS, and only got a 1 V-Sit & reach. I was stronger and faster than all but one other guy. I could "grab rim" (b-ball) barely.

How impressive would a 1:49 be in today's age? I know times improve but I ran that in 2009
