I’m getting ready to install the HAM radio I previous had installed in my Jeep in my 2024 Tundra. I’m going to put the base unit under the passenger seat, since the space under the driver’s seat is totally consumed by the JBL amplifier that comes with the limited edition. I’ll then run the cable from the core unit to the detachable head unit below the carpet, behind the dash, and mount the head unit on the window with the vendor’s suction system.
A couple of questions on the other parts:
Antenna - It appears there are two main options for the antenna - a third party adapter that installs it on the A-pillar in front of the passenger or a third party adapter that installs it on the backside corner, above the top of the tailgate corner. Has anyone in our group done this yet? If so, can you share the option you went with and any pros/cons you’ve experienced l?
Electrical. Running the antenna line will be easy, as I can use the existing drain holes in the cab. What about power to the base unit, though? Is there a go-to pre-existing hole from the cab to the engine compartment that can be used for the electrical?
