Post Body

1985 Toyota carbed 2.4, automatic pushbutton overdrive.

Just replaced water pump, thermostat, fuel pump, cleaned this and that. Today we are working on the fan clutch and trying to find a fuel filter to fit this thing. We also changed out the transmission filter and got fresh fluid in it.

Two things. It's having a hard time upshifting. I've read on multiple forums that screwing with the kick down cable and pulling it back a quarter inch will do a world of good. Any truth to this? I've also heard something with the throttle and carb can give it a rough time trying to upshift too. So your personal stories and experiences would really do me some good.

There weren't massive chunks of metal when we changed the fluid and filter. There's nothing indicating that this transmission is bad besides the burning fluid. There has to be something I'm not looking at......right?
