Never trust survivors
Post Body

I was playing a custom game which had mostly town and mafia, plus 2 Neutral Killers (both SKs) and an Any who ended up being a Survivor ironically called Survivor.

I was one of the SKs, and while my teamate died early, I made it into the final three, along with a somewhat clueless spy and the Survivor. I'd yet to win as SK, so I was pretty pleased. If I could avoid being lynched, I had the game in the bag.

So you can imagine my feelings when Survivor whispers me "help me lynch <the spy>!" and votes the spy up, while the spy reflexively votes Survivor up in response. I feel a rush of warm feeling for my fellow neutral, vote the spy up, and we lynch him on a 2:0 vote.

Arsonist Wins

WTF? Yep, turns out the Survivor had been playing the long game. The entire game he hadn't doused or ignited anyone, and his claims of being a survivor had gone unchecked. I had tried to stab him once near the start, but after we found the godfather I mentally filed him away as a harmless Exe or Survivor, since both NK roles were taken.

The lesson here is, never trust survivor claims. :(
