Hey y'all.
There are a lot of things to do in this game - despite the timelocks - and with all the different currencies and daily events and weekly events and chest hunting and vitality spending and all the other things you can do, sometimes some of it can get lost and you'll forget to do it.
That's where this guide comes in. I've seen quite a few video guides on this, but video guides for a checklist kind of defeat the purpose, in my opinion.
If anything listed below is incorrect in any way, or if I've forgotten something, please let me know below, and I'll get it straightened out! :)
DAILIES
β Task List - You should already be doing most of these because they pop a big, red, annoying square on your UI that You. Must. Click. (Also Fuck You devs for popping that red mark on the shop every like 10 minutes just to annoy us into clicking it. SUPER scummy) But here it is anyway in case you aren't doing some of them.
Mia's Kitchen - Try to save this for when you're pushing Phantasm if you need to. The buffs help.
Bounties - They're quick, they give summons and resources.
Vitality Activities
- Early on (Level 1-50): Interstellar Explorationβ β β > Trials >= IEβ β > Omnium Beacon > IEβ .
- Only use Omnium Beacon if you just don't have much time and don't want to cap your Vitality. The minigame of finding someone else's beacon nets you about 1/4 to 1/2 of the rewards, but it can take some time to do.
- Later (Level 50 ): IEβ β (β ) only if you need the mats > Joint Operation for orange gear.
- NOTE: You can tell what star level each stage of IE is by the rewards offered. Most will be β , if you see one area offer slightly more rewards (quantity, not quality) it will be β β , roughly 20-25% more rewards. If it offers about 50% more than normal, it is β β β .
Training Minigames - It's only two, do them for the quick training points
β Support Points - You have up to 1500 points you can grind out per day. Getting at least 5700 per week is advised for the Joint Supply Chips and the Black Nuclei.
- Two best ways to grind these are doing Dimensional Trials at <30 Vitality (gives 150 per time, so run it 10 times), or Frontier Clash after you've used your tries nets you 375 per run, and gives a lot of vehicle maintenance items.
β Level to Cap - I would recommend doing this by exploring first. Get your exploration rewards in the starter zones up to at least the DC rewards, but preferably the Mushroom and the Orange Nuclei as well.
Topping it off with the outfit is icing on the cake. Even if you won't use it, that just gets most of the exploration items in a zone. The rest will be sparse and likely spread out so may not be worth your time until later on when you're running out of things to do and explore.
Do the story only when you can't take exploring anymore, or you want/need to unlock something gated by the story itself. Or you've pretty much run out of things to explore for due to time gates or just not enough XP to gain.
- Note that I've leveled from 33 to 38 over the last two days without touching the story at all (I'm in a later server, our cap is 38 today).
β "Secret" Events" - I believe both of these are daily, but I just discovered them today, so let me know if that isn't the case!
"Hopkins" in the Black Market has a daily task to select a box for a free random Simulacrum Gift reward.
- Go to the Black Market Teleporter, then go inside the canyon. He's near the other end on the left, only NPC, can't miss him.
The Gacha Machine on Cetus Island gives you 3 free attempts to gain a Gift for your Simulacrums as well. You get one minute to catch one, if you fail it you don't get the reward.
- To find it, go to the Cetus Island Transporter, and then go down to the circus tent and take the left path that wraps around close to it, you should see the arcade machine ahead of you.
- An easy trick is to go for one that is laying down north to south (top to bottom, "hot dog style", however you want to think about it). Go just a tick higher than the center, and let go, the machine should scoop it with the bottom two arms and the top arm should stabilize since it's touching and "smooshing" the head or feet.
β Crew - Give your daily donation, work on your missions.
β Item Farming - Rummaging through trash cans and server boxes for vehicle parts, etc. Hykros is probably the best spot for this, but some of the towns have quite a few spots to do this. There is a related series of achievements for this as well, including "getting caught" rummaging through private property.
β Daily Supply Box Free Reward - Game will bug you to do it with the red box, but worth mentioning to be complete.
β Vitality Purchase - get the 50 DC vitality bottle. Don't worry about 100 bottles unless you're a paying player.
- CONTROVERSY WARNING: Several redditors are taking issue with this line in particular. 50 DC per day equates to 10 summons per month, or 60 chest openings per month. If 10 summons isn't worth 60 boxes (i.e. you value summons more than pushing high quality gear), then don't get this.
β Keys - Save your keys. CN server just got a mechanic that gives currency for Red Nuclei and other goodies from password chests.
I believe that there isn't a huge difference in world boss keys/chests, so you should be able to do them still, particularly because grinding those SSR matrices is important. But please correct me if I'm wrong and we should be saving world boss completions until later.
Password chests respawn, and only one character on each channel can open them, so you may as well force them open when you see them.
Rusted chests are the same. You may as well open them even if you're maxed on XP, because they respawn and are one-player-use.
WEEKLIES
β Task List - These can sometimes be less obvious as they don't always have a red reminder square, but often you end up doing them anyway.
Weekly Activity - You'll probably complete this without thinking, but it's also the most important thing to complete, because it gives rewards in three ways: Once for the item completion, once for the period 150-point completion, and a final time for the battle pass points.
Ruins - Not really a weekly thing, specifically, but you should catch up on your ruins to get all your Relic pieces and the other rewards.
Challenge Tab - Pretty much everything except Training is a weekly task in here. Climb your Phantasm as high as you care to go, do PvP as much as you can stand, Clear your Rifts and Clash, and then get as high as you can in Wormhole (this is a 5 day thing, not weekly).
β Commissary - All limited items reset weekly, other than items that are limited to 1 purchase like frames.
Crystal Dust - Advancement Modules > Booster Modules > Any gear you don't have > Special Gift
Weapon - Really only applicable to whales, but you can only purchase 2 dupes of a weapon each week.
Support - Joint Supply Chips > Black Nuclei > Gold if you need it > Vehicle Parts. Rocks are farmable, so unless you REALLY need a lot of them, don't worry about purchasing from here, they're too expensive for something farmable.
β Claude in Banges Dock - Sells green-rarity Simulacrum Gifts and Vehicle parts on a weekly timer.
- Directly West from the teleporter, up the stairs. His store has a giant "BALMART GROCERY" sign above it, can't miss it.
WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE'S NOTHING TO DO?
Eventually we're gonna be hitting cap and staying there for a while. Or even some of us right now will be hitting cap pretty early in the day and want to play a bit more. Here's what you can do without being "wasteful".
β Open up Password and Rusted Chests - These give XP, so that gets wasted, but as I said above, they are one-player use and respawn, so you can freely open them without restraint. Again, don't use keys.
β Gather Exploration Points - The diamonds on your map. These do not give XP, so you can get them whenever you feel like it. It can be a bit wasteful on time if you get these but can't open a supply pod nearby (you'll have to come get the supply pod later, consider dropping a pin on its location so you don't forget).
β Farm Mounts - There are a ton of farming guides on map rotations and whatnot to get the mounts, I won't cover that here. It can take a while to get the mobs to drop the items, they are typically very rare.
β Farm Crystals/Rocks - The BIG colored crystal formations always drop materials, the smaller ones drop them like 33% of the time or so from my experience. Get ahead of the grind as eventually you will be converting those green crystals into blue and possibly purple (someone with more experience can speak to this).
β Farm Mount Maintenance Parts - There are some pathways with a lot of mechanical mobs, you can find these elsewhere online. Mount Maintenance does give DC, and some mounts can be recolored as well.
β Keep working on Phantasm or PvP progress - Both of these are literally endless, so if you've hit a wall but you're close, you can try to push a few more levels. I've found the mechanical hounds are a soft wall because of all the ridiculous interrupts and CC they can have, if you can pass a level with mech hounds you should be able to do the next few levels as well.
THINGS I MISSED? SOMETHING INCORRECT?
Let me know and I'll fix it! :)
