The king that hasn’t received his crown and will stand his ground.

Lately i’ve been seeing some comments acting as if he doesn’t deserve the love that he gets because he’s “boring.” I respect your opinion if you don’t like him, but to say he’s so irrelevant to the point of nichelle (not dissing her) is blatantly untrue.

He joins TD without actually knowing what it is and wants to leave because of how dangerous it actually is. He is the ultimate straight man and easy to root for, especially compared to some of the guys in the cast. His dynamic with SG is one of the best in this cast, the most crazy person with the most normal creates a unique relationship between the two. Damien was also a massive bright shining light in the worst episode of season 1 and starred in his elimination.

In season 2, i’d actually argue that he’s better this season, as we were able to see him grow more confident as the episodes went on. This reached a climax in episode 6 when he takes down bowie and julia to win invincibility. Episode 7 he was able to be a leader in the cooking challenge and show his skills and in episode 8 almost won invincible by being great in the pinball challenge. He won the slide challenge by going down the four pointer like a champ, even if he was pushed into it.

Saying he doesn’t have enough plot is rather unfair considering it was just caleb and priya and julia the whole season. It’s basicallly what all the challenges come down to sadly, as shown in the last 5 episodes. I mean, Wayne himself, won the damn season and didn’t have plot himself.

While he didn’t win, i’m happy to see him stand his ground when julia started messing with him for no reason. , which sadly ends in him being carried away for half the episode. Even if screwed over by the writers in what was the worst episode of the season for many reasons to keep priya going, it’s still a good season to look back on for him, and hopefully the writers can read the feedback for these seasons and make damien and raj shine as male protagonists like they deserve.

His friendship with Millie was wonderful to watch and Damien was even noted as Wayne’s number two. We deserved more scenes between Damien and the Hockey bros instead of three characters hogging all the screentime. Julia is great and the rivalry that was budding up between popular girl and nerd was excellent but sadly taken away.

Overall, this post is to show why Damien deserves all the love and popularity he has, and why he isn’t “boring” as some detractors try to say as he has a clear and interesting personality, which can go for a few other characters.
