Priya and Caleb.

I know the majority of this sub already dislikes them for being boring, but the issue is why they're boring. It's the fact that we've seen this entire plot done before, and better, literally last season with the same character. Priya and Caleb's relationship drama is a near carbon copy of Priya and Millie's friendship drama.

Millie and Caleb both start out with alternative motivations for getting close with Priya (research for Millie's book, and a strong alliance in Caleb's case). They soon learn that they actually like Priya and end up abandoning their initial motivations to pursue a real friendship and a relationship respectively. The drama stems from those initial motivations being leaked by Bowie in season 1, and Zee in season 2. Now, yes, we don't have a conclusion to the Priya/Caleb storyline yet, but I think we all know where this is gonna go, and I'd bet money on Caleb apologizing and winning her over eventually, just like Millie did.

On top of that, the Priya/Caleb plot is a rehash of yet another storyline from a different season/show, the Ridonculous Race. Devin and Carrie's relationship is way too similar to the Priya and Caleb relationship so far. The girl has feelings for the guy, but the guy is oblivious. This goes on for way too long until the guy finally starts to catch feelings, only for there to be conflict that causes the girl to fall out of love with them. The guy tries desperately to make it up to the girl, eventually succeeds, and then they're happy together.

So not only is it a repeat of one previous storyline, it's a repeat of TWO. It feels boring because we've literally seen this exact same thing unfold twice now, and it's worse than both prior iterations. Caleb and Priya eat up so much screen time making zero progression in their storyline, which is especially egregious for Priya who ate up a ton of screen time last season and was also the winner. She goes the distance again and she's less interesting than before. And now, since Caleb's entire character pretty much revolves around her, he's essentially an extension of Priya also making it super far again.

I think what's most frustrating about Priya and Caleb is that this is probably the least interesting direction they could've taken both of their characters. Instead of focusing on Priya's growing issues with her parents, further developing her friendship with Millie, potentially pairing her with Damien, or just generally having her interact with more people, the writers decide to have her focus on Caleb exclusively, which just kind of comes out of nowhere. On the flip side, Caleb was pretty much a blank slate, yet they choose to expand very little on his character and tie him to Priya the entire season. They do bond over Priya's parents and Caleb's pushing him to get early acceptance into MIT, but they haven't really done anything beyond that, and that's pretty much all we know about Caleb.

I know this got kind of ranty, but I felt like I needed to give an in-depth explanation on why I really dislike these two that goes beyond "they're boring".
