I'm still at a loss with elephants

Ok not pay to win, but stupidly OP. Why are they even in the game. Hey I have elephants, we win! No teamwork, no strategy, just walk up and stomp everyone. Why?

The only problem with elephants is that there are only a few things that counter them pretty hard. If you don't manage to get those things on your team, or the player playing them doesn't do a good job, it is gg.
Also, after tier 7 Caesar javs > Sulla Javs for taking down elephants

Caesar is arguably better for taking down elephants, especially in a team of 2-4
