Is light artillery as user unfriendly as normal artillery?
Post Body

Ok so i find artillery very clunky to use mainly due to several things i noticed. Note this is for both types of catapult, i've not yet unlocked any further.

  1. when manually aiming the target reticle says that the shot is ready but when you want to fire nothing happens. you have to wait at least a second longer if not more.

  2. There is no clear indicator for line of sight. Sometimes the indicator (dotted circle) states you can fire in the direction but you still get obstructed.

  3. max range is poorly shown, have the line be a different colour please so i don't mix it up with allied archers los.

  4. The catapult has 2 options, the first is to deploy in the front line and move in range to hit approaching enemies and quite possibly be rushed by cav, or wait back for your allies to be killed before firing. Firing at long range is way to unpredictable and with the low traveltime allies are too prone to walk into your fire.

  5. Ai controlled fire never hits. I understand that getting tonnes of damage done passively is equally annoying but come on i've seen the auto fire miss afk players 4 or 5 shots in a row.

So i want to unlock the architecti to support 2 units of heavy infatry as Germanicus, however with the constant attention the heavy arty requires i'm not sure how feasible this will be. I understand light arty has little to no arc of fire and the velocity is better, but how are they at hitting moving targets? Does it have the same type of fire delay or is the ai reliable? How is the setup time, is it also 10sec or is more mobile?

Comments

They are less user friendly. They have a fixed, narrow firing arc. If you want to shoot 40° to the left or the enemy is just out of range, you have to pack up the whole thing and redeploy.

Friendly fire is very hard to predict because of the low arc of fire. Unless you are clearly elevated over your allies, it is hard to tell if your shots can go over the head of your team mates.
