I've got a 2019 Topstone 105 AL and my front wheel took enough damage recently that my LBS is thinking the front wheel is beyond repair. I'm waiting to hear back for their final answer, but the initial conversation was very unlikely it can be repaired. I haven't ever had to research new wheelsets, the only changes I had made after getting my Topstone was putting on road tires due to a move and my work commute becoming a road ride.
I'm quickly learning there is a LOT more going on with buying a new wheelset for the bike than just "something with disc brakes in 700c and same width". Looking for a little help on what to do. I've seen a lot of recommendations on specific wheelsets, but I'd like to learn a little more about my options and what I need to look for. Thus far I've seen 12x100 front and 12x142 rear thru axle is the spec that is a sure thing, but I'm not sure I understand the other requirements. Can I re-use my rotors, etc?
A handful of things I've noticed are having to change out the cassette, hub, etc pending what I buy and that was all news to me. My goal would be to avoid essentially buying another bike (in terms of cost) to replace one wheel.
Appreciate any help.
