Here’s the situation I was in: I went to the opticians for my regular check up. I’ve always really friendly in shops, I used to work in an opticians, and I’m a big fan of different styles of glasses, so there’s always plenty to talk about. All you need to know is that in 10 minutes I’ve made friends with pretty much everyone in this tiny independent opticians – all women by the way.

I go through the consulting room, get in the chair, the optician asked me questions about my medical history – diabetes, glaucoma, that kind of thing.

then she asked the question: “are you taking any medication at the moment?”

Without thinking about it, I just say, “yes, prep.”

Of course she was totally professional, we didn’t discuss it at all but I keep thinking “she knows I’m having enough gay be of course she was totally professional, we didn’t discuss it at all but I keep thinking “she knows I’m having enough gay bareback sex for it to be worth being on prep…”

I’m not a natural exhibitionist, but there’s something kind of hot about this. Does anyone else have people in their lives who know they are on prep? Or just that they have a very active sex life? Especially if they’re work colleagues, straight friends, family. How do you feel about it?
