I saw this on video in 2001 when I was sixteen and the idolization I see online is just weird to me. There was nothing there I ever wanted to emulate or become. Those feelings were reinforced when I read the book.
Also the book is really well written if you're looking to explore mental illness and capitalism in 80's Manhattan.
