Cordless Drills "Made in the same factory"
Post Body

I read through the sticky and have used the search to get a lay of the land here, as well as outside sources. The sticky is 3 years old and a lot can happen in 3 years (is Craftsman actually not the plague anymore?). Everyone seems to prefer Milwaukee vs DeWalt. In terms of cordless drills, Porter Cable is "made in the same factory" as DeWalt from what I hear and seems to be good at the price point.

Is Ryobi the Porter Cable of Milwaukee when it comes to cordless drills, or is it just a brand that happens to be owned by the same company and is actually trash?

I have an old (I think my grandfather had it first) B&D corded drill my dad gave me years ago, but I need something cordless (most likely 18V/20V brushless--something versatile for nearly any job around the house). I'll use it a few times a year if I'm lucky, so I was also looking at just getting a Rigid due to the lifetime warranty and if it's dead when I go to use it I'll have no worries.

Should I just go with a high quality 12V from Milwaukee rather than a 18V/20V from Porter Cable, Rigid or Ryobi?
