Are there calipers designed for measuring very small (0-5mm) things?
Post Body

I love my calipers but even though they are technically accurate enough for such things I have troubles getting their jaws into the right spot to measure things at that range.

For example if I wanted to measure the thread pitch or width of thread at the base there are of course tools specific to threads that can do the job but wouldn’t it be nice to be able to just do it with calipers?

I’ve ran into a few other situations like small holes or small edges that I just can’t quite get the jaws into.

Is there a general purpose measurement tool made for this?

(Random but I do have a thread gauge but I find it difficult to tell with precision which is the best match. Usually I’m between 3-4 measurements. But this post is about more than just threads)
