First time homebuyer with a dad that loves to diy. He moved down a bunch of his tools and has been helping with projects when he can. That said, I’m looking to start gathering some of my own.
One of the most used items has been his miter saw. It’s an old Delta 34-080. I would like to get one of my own so he can finally take his home.
I’ve really liked the looks of the Dewalt 779—bigger blade seems better and I like the idea of a sliding saw. Is this overkill? I don’t really mind the price on it and I’d like to have something good that I’ll be set for a long time with.
He got me started in the Craftsman family with a drill, sander etc. and I bought their jobsite table saw for when we put down flooring.
My main use is going to be projects like new trim, and I’ve been considering trying woodworking by building things like floating shelves.
Any advice is appreciated!
