Okay so. To provide context: A couple years ago, there was a TV angle where this character, Kurt Angle, had an illegitimate son who was black. People made fun of the storyline because Kurt was white and his son was black. I was confused because I had always thought Kurt was mixed race.
Tanning wasn't common in my hometown, so when I see a tan person, I often think they are a person of color. It doesn't really affect my day to day or come up a lot in conversation, but I would prefer to avoid the embarrassment of calling a white person a person of color because I don't understand how colors work.
If it helps provide context, I also have a mild color vision deficiency.
This is a kinda weird and embarrassing question to ask, thus why I'm asking here.
Any help would be much appreciated. <3
