52 year old women who actively pursue young men who are young enough to be their sons are called "cougars" and the term has a positive connotation to it. If you had a man of the same age doing the same thing to a young woman then he would be derided as a dirty creepy old man. What is with the double standard here? I've heard the argument for both. An older man is more financially secure, a more skilled lover, knows how to treat a woman and an older woman has a high sex drive and therefore needs a younger man to keep up with her needs. Personally I think both arguments and while I am not a fan of either scenario I find it odd that one is all the rage and the other is looked down upon and judged.

While I'm definitely not here in the corner of men who can't age gracefully I'm also not a supporter of 40 somethings who go out dressed like slutty 19 year olds. When I was in my 20s I dated older women and when I say older I mean like I was 21 and they were 31 or I was 22 and they were 26. I can say that I had to work at it and convince them that I was worth their time and they definitely were not throwing themselves at me. My point is that any woman who just throws herself at a guy 15-20 years her junior as these cougars do is just gross. I remember the way these cougars would approach me was really gross and smelled of desperation. Probably the most ironic thing is that the women who are cougars today are the same women screaming bloody murder 25 years ago when one of those dirty old men had the nerve to hit on them.

Let's just call it what it is, Cougars are nothing more than the female version of dirty old men.
