Is it possible to learn the guitar on my own by referring to YouTube videos?

Post Body
I am looking to learn the guitar. I am in my 30s and my nature of work doesn't allow me to join classes on regular basis. I am hoping to learn playing by going through videos from YouTube at my own pace. Can I really learn playing the guitar by following online tutorials/videos?
What worries me more than learning the guitar is if I am too old to learn it as most people wanting to learn would most likely be at least half my age.
