How do children develop their sense of humor?

Post Body

I don't know where to ask this and it feels like such a silly question. My son is about a year and a half old now and is starting to giggle at movie scenes or cracks up when mom or dad do something funny.

I wonder, is he laughing because we're laughing? Does he genuinely find this funny? Is his sense of humor going to be more like dad (loves a witty/clever joke) or mine (anything punny cracks me up).

I guess my question is, is sense of humor a genetic trait or environmental effect?
