Why do forensic investigators need every single detail?

(I'm so sorry, I'm not sure which tag would best fit!)

Long story short, I'm a victim in a current ongoing assault case. I recently had a webcam interview where I pretty much had to tell the experience as it happened as best I could recall.

I'm genuinely curious why absolutely every single explicit detail is necessary? Why does it matter that I tell the exact word that the perpetrator explicitly used for that certain body part instead of just the scientific or more comfortable not-as-profane word? It's not like providing clues to actually find the criminal or anything. It almost felt like I was going to be put on some dramatic show or something. It just seems excessive to have to do that for the more painful parts even though I'm grateful to help in the case.

I do not care to discuss the case. If it helps provide an accurate answer, I was a minor at the time of the incident.
