Why are people saying "unalive" instead of actual words?

Post Body
I've noticed redditors using the term "unalive" in regards to suicide and I'm wondering what the purpose of that is. I'm guessing because it's a softer word? I find it to be horribly shallow and very naive to limit someone's vocabulary because a word carries weight (beyond hate-speech of course).
