So I put myself in a bit of a sticky situation last session.

I rolled the Artus Cimber encounter, which entailed him being chased by Trex Zombie (had to pick that one, the enemy is just too cool). The fight got a little sticky and Artus ended up resorting to using the Ring of Winter to stop it.

Xandala, however, was with the party too and instantly realized this was the Ring of Winter. She Dominate Personed Artus successfully, grabbed the Ring, and then cast fly to get away.

And then my party beat the shit out of her, ending with a crit that straight up killed her.

So now I'm kinda stuck with Artus having the Ring which is gonna be a nightmare to balance around.

I don't want to take Artus out of the picture because I can already tell me party is gonna love him and Dragonbait and want them to travel with them, so what I can do to get the ring out of his possession without it seeming like I'm railroading it away from them?
