The Blood War between the Nine Hells and the infinite Abyss requires a constant influx of new souls to join the front lines. The Soulmonger is preventing all souls from going to their afterlives, including going to the Hells or the Abyss. I feel like both sides would immediately notice the problem and be heavily invested in solving it right away.
How might agents of the Abyss and the Hells interact with the Death Curse?
