I should probably start off by saying that I have only ever read one other manga, but I started reading Tokyo Ghoul because the wait for season 3 is killing me. I watched the anime first, and it is one of my favorites.
One of the saddest scenes in the entire show (for me) was when Ryouko gave herself up so that Hinami could escape the doves. However, when I read it in the manga, the scene didn't really seem to carry the same weight because I didn't feel that the emotion came through as well in the panels as it did in the show, for obvious reasons.
I came off of that part feeling sort of odd because I actually braced myself for it, but found it to be underwhelming. Then a little while later (once I had more or less let my guard down), I read this panel and it made me very sad, for the same reason as the scene in the anime did.
I just thought I would share because I found it really interesting how the manga and the anime both got the same emotion across to me, but in different scenes (and none of my friends want to talk about this kind of stuff).
