Realistic Expectation for small Appartment or Room in shared House with private bathroom
Post Body

Hello to everyone! This is my first ever reddit post and English isn't my first language.

I have an offer for an internship in Japan (Kawasaki) for 6 Months (01.04-30.09.2024). I am not sure yet if I will accept that offer because of "low" salary (130.000 yean each month after taxes). Right now I am searching for a room in a shared house or appartment that is close enough to my workplace (motosumiyoshi Station or Shin-Kawasaki Station), so I can get from my place to work in a maximum of 45Minutes. My only expectations are that I am having a private bathroom (toilet shower), I don't care about sharing a kitchen or other stuff. My possible boss told me that I'll need round about 40.000-50.000 yen each month for food (if mostly cooking for myself and only going for cheap restaurants). That being said I'll have 80.000-90.000 Yen (let's say 85.000) for a room/Appartment but with utilities wifi.

I know that I also will atleast have transportation costs and that I will need a simcard, but I would actually pay that with savings by my own (otherwise absolutely irrealstic to get around with 130.000 yen)

When I was searching(/or more likely just checking the market, because I guess it's too early to allready find/book one that early) for accommodation it was really frustrating. There are basically none shared rooms with private bathroom and only a few Appartments but they are allready booked.

My main questions are: 1. Is it really realistic to survive with 45.000 Yen a month (maybe once or twice a month going for a cheap dinner with colleagues)

  1. Is it realistic to find an accomodation with my given money and expectations (private bathroom)

  2. When should I really start looking for a flat when I want to move in at end of march/early April?

  3. Any tips where to find such an accommodation?

Thanks for helping me!
