"what's with US schools and their OBSESSION with US history?!"

The post has nothing to do with US History to begin with. That's African History or World History. In Europe Brits would enslave Celts, Visigoths would enslave Spaniards, Celts would enslave Germans and on and on. That is Brit History, German History, Spanish History and European History. US History should begin with the nomadic tribes throughout the America's first. Those other histories can be taught after we get US History out of the way and quit ignoring what really happen in the US. Of course, many negative points of US History should be taught in high school (not too aggressively) then in college all aspects of US History should be taught. One last point, US History teaches about 'indentured servants'. Europeans (white folks) would arrive in the US to fulfill a job and contract and where not free until they paid it off through labor. Many never got to pay it off, they died as indentured servants.
