I bought a lightly-used Tivo Bolt about 9 months ago. Over the past few months, it would occasionally (but rarely) stop sending out an HDMI signal. I'd turn the TV & receiver on and just get a "No signal" message. A power cycle or two would always fix the problem... until today. Now, a power cycle gives me:
- Green light on face of device ON
- A few flashes from yellow light
- TiVo logo for ~10 seconds
- "No signal" from TV for ~20 seconds
- TiVo "Starting Up" screen for ~45 seconds
- "No signal" from TV
- Green light on face of device turns OFF
- Signal never comes back
Things I've tried which produce the same result:
- Bypassing the receiver and connecting the TiVo directly to the TV's HDMI port
- Using a new HDMI cable
- Leaving the TiVo unpowered for 20-30 minutes
Any thoughts? I've emailed Weaknees (although they say on their site they can't repair Bolt HDMI ports, so if that's the issue I'm SOL with them) and am steeling myself to call TiVo, which sadly is my last resort because dealing with them is a dreadful ordeal in my (admittedly limited) experience.
Thanks in advance, guys and gals! 🤓
EDIT: Whoa, I just went to check if the box was responding to the remote. I pressed a couple buttons on the remote and the red & green LEDs lit up and it sprang to life. It now seems completely normal and functional. It was even recording as it was sitting there, dark, putting out no signal. For how long it will work, I don't know. Very strange.
EDIT 2, FIVE MONTHS LATER: This thing finally died. Reboots would just produce the TiVo logo for a second or two, then no signal and all the TiVo front LEDs quickly flashing. Despite me having bought it second-hand and it being well out of warranty, TiVo replaced it for $49.
