How does TikTok determine which videos to push?

I used to make videos on YouTube. I had a decent channel with over 600 subscribers in a year. I was able to crack the code at YouTube. Eventually I lost interest in the channel and deleted it. Iām having trouble cracking the TikTok algorithm. Is it retention rate? I make my videos very short and most have 50% retention and up. What is the key factor?
