Clarified Mai Tai is too sweet. Suggestions?

I made about 3 liters of a clarified mai tai just for fun and education. The clarity is great but it’s a bit too sweet. I tried making my own orgeat and i overdid it with the sugar.
Should i add white rum to it? Bitters? how should i cut the sweetness while still maintaining its tropical character? Thanks!!!
