Facts.
Prosecutors are the most powerful people in the criminal justice system today, and not by accident.
A mountain of laws and rulings over the last century have given them almost 100% of the decision-making power in who goes to court, what charges they face, and ultimately how much time they get if found guilty.
That’s not even to mention plea deals, which is how something like 90% of guilty verdicts in the US are actually achieved. That’s all prosecutor.
If you care about criminal justice reform, DA elections are wildly important.
They have incredible authority and unparalleled power.
