Hey everyone. I am a 37 year old male in the Atlanta area.
TL/DR: Diagnosed with mild hip arthritis, hip impingement, and torn labrum. I had arthroscopic surgery today and the surgeon said what he saw was much worse than what the MRI suggested. He suggested that a replacement is likely in my future. I'm feeling pretty down about it. Venting

I wanted to share what I'm going through as a way of just trying to stay connected and to keep my mind in as good of a place as it can be.
Back in November I was running in a 5k, and I felt a sharp pain in my right hip about half way through. I had felt that pain before when running, but this time it never went away.
After several appointments with the surgeon and some imaging it turns out I was born with oddly shaped femurs that are part of the problem at least. I also have mild arthritis in both hips according to the CT scan.
We decided to do an arthroscopic surgery to repair the labrum and to reshape the femur. I had surgery today, and I am recovering. So far so good. Not much pain, but I still have plenty of medications in my system lol.
However the surgeon did say that what he saw in my hip was worse than expected and that a hip replacement is probably in my future, It is probably just a matter of how long before I need it.
So my mind is in a pretty dark place right now. I also have arthritis and nerve damage in one of my shoulders and arthritis in at least one of my knees. I also have lower back pain, but that could be attributed to the hips. I never really experienced any symptoms from these conditions until last year and then they all seemed to pop up at once. It's been a lot to process.
I had all the autoimmune blood tests and they all came back normal.
I'm not really sure what is wrong with me ... is it just wear and tear along with the bad femurs, do I have some sort of genetic issue that makes me susceptible to early onset OA? Is it some form of sero-negative autoimmune arthritis?
Thanks for reading
