That was my first reaction to the news of mistreatment and neglect of African and Asian students and residents of Ukraine trying to flee the conflict.

The second was my reaction to US and West European coverage of the war. The Western Chauvanism was in FULL display at the outrage over "a WHITE nation being g under attack" or the first war since WWII between two "CIVILIZED nations." Jesus Christ, I know the media is desperate to justify the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and justify the neglect of coverage of atrocities happening in Yemen and Palestine for example, but FUCK, do they have to be so blunt and obvious about it??

Don't get me wrong, America and the Western European Countries are still in the right in siding against Russia, and Ukraine still has the moral high ground to oppose invaders, but it's really fucking aggravating that they cannot let go of their prejudices even in a time of crisis.

I think a perfect example of the double standard is how European nations are doing the best they can and going out of their way to accommodate the European "white" refugees from Ukraine (I specify "white" because there can be European people of African or Asian Descent, but they're most likely getting shafted too), but were largely hostile to the far smaller number of Syrian refugees entering Europe a few years ago.
