The problem with "I Just Want Someone Qualified" SCOTUS narrative
Post Body

So, almost like clockwork, Conservative media has found the next boogeyman and dog whistle to focus on: The HORROR of a Black Woman Entering the Supreme Court (shudders).

Now, obviously this isn't the 1950s, and they can't openly say what they REALLY want to say ( "We don't want non-conservative Black people in the SCOTUS"), so instead they resort to decades-old dog whistles.

Now, don't get me wrong, I ALSO want someone QUALIFIED to enter the Supreme Court; I dont want the female-version of Clarence Thomas that votes along largely conservative lines against the improvement of the American people.

HOWEVER, that ISN'T what conservatives on media really mean. The old "I Want someone qualified" as been used as a rhetorical tool that Implies a minority in a position of influence and power cannot have achieved such status without "affirmative action" and is therefore undeserving of their position in life.

This not only relies on a Severe misunderstanding of what "affirmative action" is and does, but once again strikes at the heart of Conservative Racism.
