OK, this season is crazy already. The Watcher lore feels more present with the Watcher logo made of cobblestone on the Secret Keeper's "face" but I also feel like the whole idea of the secrets, having to lie and manipulate other players feels even more "Watchery" than what we've seen before. I would not be surprised if there's another mysterious audio cue upon death, or red's hear every so often a whisper of "Kill, kill, kill them all".

In terms of the Watcher canon, I imagine that the previous games were run by Grian in an attempt to placate the Watchers after him. But they've grown bored with his ideas, as they seem too tame to them. So this season, they've picked the twist and are intervening more directly (the Keeper, how the secrets/rewards spawn) The implications for the finale, of unhappy Watchers intervening more directly, are not pretty....

But that's my theory after Week 1's videos, idk if it's going to come true or not.

(On another point, could all the videos just get titled/tagged with "Secret Life SMP, as that would make it easier to try and watch them without having to check around a dozen channels for a few days a week?)
