Dose based on “ideal body weight”?
Post Body

Finished my 2nd infusion today and after both I’ve felt nothing, possibly even felt worse. I asked the doctor what dose of ketamine I’m receiving, and he explained that the dose is based on my height and “ideal body weight.”

He never weighed me, but asked me to estimate my weight...so today he said that the dose is calculated based on my “lean body weight” or “ideal body weight” (phrases used interchangeably). I asked how this correlates to my actual weight, and he said he cannot calculate the dose based on my actual weight.

If he is using an “ideal body weight” that is actually much less than my actual weight, wouldn’t I be getting substantially under-dosed? Which might explain why I feel...nothing? I continued asking for clarification and he finally told me I’m receiving .75mg/kg based on my “lean/ideal body weight.”

Is this normal? Any feedback would be appreciated.
